whittney's handmade starry sky

I'm really grateful to be surrounded by lots of creative individuals. Many of my friends are fellow artists/crafters/bloggers and to say the least it inspires me. Whittney is one of those people. She loves cats and art time, and eating and watching The Dark Crystal and for these (and many more) reasons, I love her.

This project totally made me have to sit down the first time I saw it. It's AWESOME. It's made with 2 boards of wood that Whittney painted black. She glued HUNDREDS of mirrors all over it meticulously by hand. The project is hung up in 2 separate pieces so it can be taken down and moved with ease (smart).

Whittney has lots of other neat projects and project ideas that I'll tell you guy about someday (sooner than later). She's a master of hemp jewelry, mixed media collage, really neat custom occasion cards and lots of other random cuteness. :D

I asked her to email me some photos of this project, and she threw in the photo below for good measure. Gigglessss. HAIR BOW! How cuuute. Here's how to do it!

clean down to your soul.

it's a rainy sunday here in the south. got some faux chicken cutlets in the oven and a cat in my lap. i'd like to note to anyone reading this, please disregard some of the older posts on this blog (like from years ago)...some were just me being silly or testing out the blogger platform. anywho- from now on the stuff i post will be at least somewhat awesome (to me anyway :D)

over the past few months, my brother has been building a soap company and i've been helping where i can. i've been lucky enough to have access to this amazing product for 4 or 5 months and i'm here to say it's the best soap i've ever used (and not just because i'm biased). i used to use dr. bronner's.....for years and years....because it was so mild and i have VERY sensitive skin.  fair dinkum soap is perfect because it moisturizes without being greasy, rinses clean, and smells magical. lately i've been using the rosemary lavender bar...lovely. fair dinkum soap is made by hand in small batches with the highest quality oils and herbs. i highly recommend this soap to anyone who enjoys a more natural lifestyle and the peace of knowing that what's going into your skin is actually GOOD for you.

you can pick up a bar tk-101 (my mini shop at packard's antique center) or buy some online. my website is still a work in progress and there are 2-3 more scents that still need to be added to the online shop (as well as the rest of my inventory which consists of clothes, shoes, accessories, handmade jewelry, books and more!) i hope to have lots of treasures up for sale soon. stay tuned!

thanks for sharing part of this rainy sunday with me. i hope you all have a wonderful day. <3

3 years later and...finally!

well, it's been about 3 years since I created this blog account. since then, i've written many posts which I kept unpublished and to myself. so much has happened in my life in the past 3 years, I don't even feel like the same person sometimes. I believe this is a good thing. The extraordinary amount of sadness that I have been dealt the past few years of my life is starting to give way to extreme bursts of creativity and to me, this is the best possible type of energy for healing. Creation. In the coming weeks, months, and possibly even years... I hope to use this blog as an uncensored and open form of communication for myself, if no one else but I truly hope this blog will inspire at least one person who reads it.

I pulled an all nighter for the first time since i started my "real person job" (about 6 months ago). definitely easy to do when you have rooms full of arts and craft supplies (and the internet). from the ages of about 16-26 I was lucky to fall asleep before 2 or 3am. I used to chalk this up to the night terrors I experienced as a kid...visions and shadows kept me awake for hours and usually ended with me sleeping in my parents room. now I know that it was (most likely) just my brain being all overactive and what not...now, I find that channeling restless energy into late night art sessions, guided meditations, or self reiki treatments really help to put my mind and body back in balance...and eventually into deep sleep.

it's raining. I hope you all have a wonderful sunday. hopefully I'll have time to post again tomorrow? perhaps some pictures of my :::in progress::: recycled shoe rack! exciting, i know. :D

where much is born, much is torn.

so many things have changed and so much has happened since i actually had the time to sit down and give this blog some quality lovin'.

love lost and found me, i lost and found myself...

...and i think this might be the perfect place to let you in.

“Nothing really dies,” I told him. “It just turns into something else. Everything is always changing form. Do you remember the pumpkin that rotted into the earth in your garden? Tomatoes sprouted where it used to be. This bird will go back to the earth and turn into lavendar flowers and butterflies.”
