How does it feel to kill the princess?

Dad and I. Virginia circa 1985.

[This poem is based on an actual conversation, and true events.]
...If you're reading this, you've personally helped me in one way or another (whether you know it or not), to deal with the death of my Dad...so Thank You. I owe you. You saved my life...and I love you.

My Father...listening to his favorite tunes. This was about 10 months into his battle with brain cancer and just a few days before I wrote this poem.

My beautiful parents in the 70's...happy and full of love.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How does it feel to kill the princess?

(She's dead.)
(She's dead.)

And she's taking it all with her...
Don't stress, it'll all be born again.

"Have you found it yet?"
He said to me while laying in his bed.
"What is 'it' you speak of?"
Drugs were pouring through his head.

"The red bomb!" He cried anxiously...
Awaiting for reply.
"No luck yet, Dad" I said to him.
"But surely, I will try"

What he said next was near insane and filled the room with stares. The after-morning sun bled in and writhed us in our chairs.

"Everything and nothing, my precious, Rachel Lee...that's what this bomb is made of, my daughter of the sea."

I should begin my quest right now.
Don't want to go alone.
Maybe when I find this bomb,
I'll finally feel at home.

"A boy in 14th century Bosnia, he's to become your king"
"In fact, he wanders the ancient streets, searching for your ring."
He can't place what drives him,
But he keeps pushing on.
"I chose him to take care of you...when I am dead and gone."

"Treat him well!" He pleaded me...
"This prince I chose for you. In every lifetime that you live, your old love will renew."

"It kills to cry goodbye to you,
while dying in this bed."
"Take all the things I've taught you,
store them safely in your head."

"What happens when I find it, Dad?"
This mighty bomb of red.?
More lovely than a God to me,
I wish he wasn't dead.

"You'll feel it when you see it, love. And everyone will cheer! The answers behind all of this will surely be made clear."

"They'll celebrate you, then they'll die. And they suffer happily. For you and your true loves first kiss sets everybody free."

Do you believe in love?
